It is mainly the colleges that make the city so beautiful to the eye. Throughout the centuries, many famous architects and designers have left their mark, and there are few finer sights in this part of the world than the view from The Backs of the colleges lining the banks of The River Cam. One of the stranger sights is to see the students and scholars going about their business in a very traditional way, in the midst of what is actually a city with a very modern heart.
